The death of 40-year-old Giuseppe Ottaviano, found dead in his home in via Manenti in Scicli (Ragusa), is still a mystery. After the inspection by the medical examiner appointed by the Ragusa Prosecutor’s Office, the Messina RIS carried out inspections and technical-scientific investigations three times in search of biological traces that could lead the police on the right track. There is suspicion that it may be a homicide. The victim had injuries to his head and nose and the blood found in the walls of the house leaves many doubts. The RIS investigators are reconstructing the dynamics, trying to identify new elements that can shed light. The investigation is coordinated by the deputy public prosecutor of Ragusa, Silvia Giarrizzo.
A mysterious death
News is also expected from today’s autopsy examination in the morgue of the Maggiore-Nino Baglieri hospital, where the man’s body is located. The medical examiner Giuseppe Algieri will carry it out. A death that is currently still shrouded in mystery, traces of blood were found in the man’s bedroom and in several rooms of the house. Murder or domestic accident? The blood on the walls of the house would suggest the presence of several people in the house at the time of the man’s wounding, which later proved fatal. According to some stories from his neighbors, Ottaviano parked his Audi Q3 on Saturday night and never came out again. Some of the man’s relatives turned to the police who discovered the body.
Scicli in shock
The day after the tragedy, the mayor of Scicli, Mario Marino, expressed his “condolences to the family of the 40-year-old who died in mysterious circumstances in his home in the historic centre”. Marino heard “the leaders of the investigating forces expressing their concern and attention for the case which has greatly disturbed the Sciclitan community and beyond, expressing maximum confidence in the work of the carabinieri and the judiciary”.
