Today in Germany is a day of new price lists: after seeing the launch prices of the new Opel Frontera, lower than we could have imagined, it is the turn of the new and powerful Volkswagen Golf GTI 2024.
Last February 2024 Volkswagen opened orders in Italy for the new Golf 2024, a family to which the powerful GTI will also be added. Moving the iconic German car in its sportiest variant we find a 195 kW/265 hp engine, we therefore have 20 HP more than the previous model. On the outside, the car is characterized by new LED headlights (front and rear) and the illuminated Volkswagen logo. Internally, the model gains the German company’s new infotainment with a 12.9-inch screen and voice assistant powered by ChatGPT, a “basic” variant of the 15″ system seen on board the new Volkswagen Tiguan just tested.
Ok but how much will this version cost? At the moment we are talking about German prices, so the Italian ones could differ somewhat: in Germany the new Volkswagen Golf GTI 2024 is sold for starting price of 44,505 euros. It is not a figure suitable for all wallets, but we are talking about an iconic model updated with some of the latest technologies from the Volkswagen brand, with 370 Nm of torque available starting from 4,590 rpm. The 265 HP of power are instead reached between 5,250 and 6,500 rpm.
Managing the transmission we find a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, with the German manufacturer having now completely abandoned manual gearboxes. From 0 to 100 km/h the new Golf GTI clocks 5.9 seconds, for the first time in its history – therefore – drops below 6 seconds. The passenger compartment is also characterized by Golf GTI Top sports seats with integrated headrests and red stitching, certainly at a higher level than the other trim levels in the range.
