Unions protesting the death of Giuseppe Carpinelli, 33, which occurred in Salemi during his work shift at a wind farm.

He was originally from San Marco dei Cavoti (Benevento) Giuseppe Carpinellia 33 year old worker who died last Saturday 11 May Salemi. The man fell into the void from one of the shovels he was working on, losing his life a few hours after the Casteldaccia tragedy. In the past few hours, an autopsy was arranged on the body, which is currently located in Castelvetrano, while the wind farm was placed under seizure to conduct investigations.

The investigators are evaluating from what height the worker fell, with the firefighters also having had many difficulties when recovering the body considering that after the fall the body had stopped at about 50 meters in height. A few days after the five workers died in Casteldaccia, the system of contracts and subcontracts and the presumed respect for labor regulations ended in the political debate. The Trapani police are investigating the safety regulations inside the plant.

Yesterday a sit-in took place in front of the Trapani prefecture. The secretaries of CGL of Trapani declared: “We are tired and worried, we need a synergistic mobilization to ensure that workers return home safe and sound”.
