Firefighters engaged in extinguishing a fire that broke out in Teramo in the attic of a house in via Orto Agrario. In the rooms, where furniture, furnishings and various combustible materials were stored, a significant volume of fire developed which made extinguishing operations complex. A portion of approximately 130 square meters of the wooden roof collapsed and the dense smoke caused the blackening of the stairwell of the building affected by the fire and the perimeter wall of the adjacent building. All the apartments, although not affected by the flames, were evacuated and the property was declared unusable. No injuries were reported. The municipal administration, with the deputy mayor Stefania Di Padova arriving on site together with the Fire Brigade and the police forces, also joined this morning by the Mayor Gianguido D’Alberto, immediately took action to provide assistance to the families involved who, in night, they were temporarily hosted at the Gran Sasso hotel at the expense of the Municipality. “As an Administration we are close to our citizens in this difficult moment – underline the two administrators – and we immediately took action to find temporary accommodation for the families affected. Yesterday evening we found the availability of some rooms at the Gran Sasso hotel and already from this evening, waiting for the firefighters to issue the appropriate report and for a partial or total unusability order to be issued based on the findings of the investigations of the property, the three families who do not have the possibility of alternative accommodation will be hosted for the first few days, in an emergency, in a suitable accommodation facility. We hope they can return to their homes as soon as possible and we will continue to constantly monitor the situation.”
