A frightening wave of anti-Semitism: it is there for all to see, from October 7th onwardsfrom which Israel reacted to the massacre perpetrated by Hamas. And this frightening wave of anti-Semitism is now also being denounced by Liliana Segre. “I get crazy threats and I ignored them for years because silence seemed best to me, and I also worry about these haters, because I’m a mother and a woman. More than the hated it should be the haters who are cured“, said the senator for life and Shoah survivor in her speech at the conference “The victims of hatred” at the Shoah Memorial underway in Milan.
The haters, Segre added, “should be cured by a team of doctors. When names are known, it is a concern of society. When I got the vaccine (against Covid, ed.) they wrote to me as if I were a plague spreader. Do they wish me death? I replied calmly, I’m 93 and a half years old. Someone who wishes me death, I say he’s the one to cure. You’re sick. I saw everything, how do you want me to be afraid to go out? Finding myself at 94 years old being told, be careful, stay at home… I like to live, I’m active, I have many passions. And should I stay home because someone wants to kill me? No”, he cut it very short.
And again: “I didn’t expect this frightening wave of hatred and anti-Semitism, even towards Italian Jews who they have nothing to do with Israel’s political decisions and maybe they don’t share them. We have always been hated and persecuted. But despite the Shoah and everything we can tell, the people of Israel continue to live in general indifference”, he remarked. “We are accused of everything that we ourselves would not want to see”, concluded Liliana Segre in a speech, at dramatic traits, which must make us reflect.
