Lazio better than the Italian champions for the second consecutive year
Thanks to the victory against Empoli, and Bologna’s blitz in Naples, Lazio for the second consecutive year will finish the championship ahead of the reigning Italian champions in the standings (+8 with still two matches to play, ed.).
Last season, however, the Biancocelesti finished the season ahead of Milan, winners of the 2021/2022 tournament (+4, ed.).
It hasn’t happened since 2000, when Lazio finished first ahead of Juventus (1998/1999) and then Milan (1999/2000).
