The 2024 European Karate Championships concluded in Zadar (Croatia) with the Italian athletes bringing home a haul of 13 medals, four of which were won in parakarate.
Excellent performance for the Fiamme Oro karateka who won the gold medal with Luca Maresca and Michele Martina, European champions with the men’s kumite team, victorious over Greece in the continental final.
Double silver for Terryana D’Onofrio in the individual women’s kata and with the team. In the final against the Turkish Olympian Bozan Di Lara the Fiamme Oro policewoman played an exceptional match, putting the referees in serious difficulty who in the end decreed a draw between the two athletes. In the end, she prevailed over her opponent by 0.1 points, considering the lower scores.
Even in the team competition, the final was characterized by great balance, but in the end the eternal opponents Spain prevailed 43.8 to 43.7.
Silver also for Clio Ferracuti with the women’s kumite team, overcome in the final by the girls from Germany.
Finally, beautiful bronze for Erminia Perfetto in the 50 kilogram category of women’s kumite. In the final for third place the State Police standard bearer overtook the Greek Eleni Tzilia.
