The J24 of the Navy La Superba wins the fifth National J24 Regatta on Lake Caldonazzo

After four races and excellent hospitality, the stage well organized by the Trentina Sailing Association in the splendid waters of Lake Caldonazzo also ended.

Caldonazzo Lake (Valcanover location)- After four races held in the splendid waters of Lake Caldonazzo in Pergine Valsugana in Valcanover by around fifteen crews representing numerous Italian fleets, the well-organised J24 National Regatta – Fabio Apollonio Trophy (with a coefficient of 2) concluded over the weekend. just concluded by the Trentina Sailing Association and valid as the fifth stage of the 2024 National Circuit.

On the top step of the podium of the event – also wanted in memory of his friend Fabio Apollonio, former president of the Italian Class – once again the J24 of the Centro Vela Altura Napoli (MM, 4 points; 3,1,2,1) helmed by Ignazio Bonanno with his multiple Italian champion crew and reigning vice world champion – Simone Scontrino, Francesco Picaro, Ciccio Linares and Alfredo Branciforte -.

Second place (as in the previous edition) for the J24, bearer of the home colors and protagonist of the opening regatta, Ita 182 J-Jam helmed by Dario Cattarozzi (AVT, 7 points; 1,4,6,2 also in the crew Piazza, Bosisio , Cattarozzi, Nasuti).
The third position – already achieved in the 2023 edition – is also confirmed by Ita 469 Bruschetta Guastafeste helmed by Pierluigi Puthod and crewed by sisters Sonia and Alessia Ciceri and by Ancilla Scaccia (CV Tivano; 9 points, 2,3,4,8 in crew also Fabio Ascoli and Rudoni).

The prizes awarded to the winners were very welcome and were also rewarded with delicious baskets of local products.
For the protagonist of the third race of the day, Ita 371 J-Oc Alce Nero with Tommasino Fusato, De Palo, Diamanti, Marini and Rosa, (CN Brenzone 15 points; 8,10,1,6), however, a sixth place at behind Ruggero Spreafico’s Ita 476 Dejavù (CV Tivano; 10 points) and Ubaldo Ranzi’s Ita 507 Cucuia (CV Sarnico 13 points).

There was great satisfaction for the perfect success of this 2024 edition both on the part of the participants – who also appreciated and appreciated the excellent hospitality and the exquisite local products – and of the management of Velica Trentina and the brothers Dario and Giuliano Cattarozzi thanks to whom J24 has also spread to Lake Caldonazzo.

The crews of the most widespread and popular keeled monotype in the world, designed by Rod Johnstone in 1976 but still very current, will continue their 2024 National Circuit – which after ten events from March to November in the most beautiful Italian locations will award the Francesco Ciccolo Perpetual Challenge Trophy and the J24 Trophy to the best Owner Helmsman – with the sixth stage scheduled for the 25th and 26th on the Lario, in Pare’ di Valmadrera: the National Regatta will be organized by the Circolo Vela Tivano and the Lario Fleet Chief Mauro Benfatto.
