Gattinara mourns Remo, who died in a motorbike accident

«All of us at the tavern are close to Remo Filippone Bavash’s family. We will always remember you for everything you did for your city, for the carnival, for all of us… We have lost another piece of us.” This is how the Malmustùs tavern remembers on its social page Remo Filippone, the seventy-year-old who last night, Sunday 12 May, he lost his life in a motorbike accident.

The man was well known in the city. Passionate about motorbikes, he was among the most assiduous protagonists of the city carnival, in particular as “fasulèe”, i.e. those who take care of the beans.

The accident yesterday afternoon

The accident occurred around 6.30pm on provincial road 229 which connects Borgomanero and Gozzano. This is the southern part of the ring road, in the town of Santa Cristina. Remo Filippo’s motorbike hit a car at a roundabout. The circumstances of the accident have not yet been disclosed.

The impact was terrible and left the motorcyclist with no escape: the man from Gattinare was thrown from the saddle and ended up on the asphalt, causing very serious injuries.

Help arrived on site, a 118 medical ambulance. However, the health workers who arrived on site could not help but confirm his death. The motorcyclist never regained consciousness after the terrible impact. The road remained closed to allow rescuers to intervene. However, there were no consequences for the motorist, who was shocked by what happened.
