ROME – L’Amca Elevators come back in A league: beats for 48-62 (13-12, 23-30, 35-48) there SS Lazio Basketball also in the second challenge for promotion and avoids the trap of a possible “match” to be played a few hours later again in the capital, regaining a prestigious position at the highest levels of national wheelchair basketball.
In many ways, game 2 is a repeat of the first match, played in Varese last Saturday and won by the red and whites 58-42: soft start, then a constant but irresistible progression, “signed” first of all by an excellent defense and then, in attack, a bit from all the players fielded by the Pedron-Marinello pairing; however, Alessandro Pedron’s 12 points, a season record, certainly deserve underlining, as does the fact that, despite only 62 points scored, Amca Elevatori placed four players in double figures, demonstrating a very well distributed offensive threat .
A single, brief moment of difficulty: at the start of the last quarter Lazio produced their maximum effort, achieving a 6-0 lead that put them back in the game (41-48 at 33′). But it’s only a moment: Amca Elevatori has the clarity and psychological strength to react, they in turn place a 4-0 which is a clear sign of their presence and from this moment the road becomes really downhill for the Varese players until to the final triumph.
It was a practically perfect season for Amca Elevatori, which ended without any “stain”: 10 victories in as many matches in the first phase of the Serie B championship, then the promotion challenge with this Lazio team who had achieved the same clear path in the first phase but which had suffered a defeat in the semi-final against Lecce, which ended 2-1 (Varese had not played due to Porto Torres’ forfeit).
A great satisfaction for the club, which in 2024 celebrates its fortieth year of activity and which will celebrate the anniversary by playing the Serie A championship again, two years later. A satisfaction for the results obtained (better than that…) and for having got all the moves right, from the choice of a coach on his debut (Alessandro Pedron had the double role of player and coach) to that of the two foreign players, because Iragorri and Samadi turned out to be very successful signings, on a technical and human level.
Now it’s right to celebrate, soon the planning of another very important season in the history of the club.
