Fearful fire in Brussa, large house devoured by flames. Difficult intervention by the firefighters

CAORLE – A fire in a large house on an island in the Brussa di Caorle. The alarm, which went off just before 4pm today, Sunday 12 May, was raised by the same people who were on site, who managed to get away and save themselves before the flames prevented any escape route. It would be the large house near that of the former governor of Veneto Gianfranco Galan. Once the emergency services were alerted, the Mestre operations center mobilized the fire brigade teams, which intervened from Portogruaro with two vehicles, from Udine and from Caorle with the group of volunteers.

What happened

At first it seemed that a large house in Porto Falconera was burning but when the rescuers arrived the black smoke that was released upwards came from Brussa on the other side of the Nicesolo canal. Drago, the Venice Fire Brigade helicopter, was also mobilised. The high flames made it difficult for the firefighters to reach the burnt area, which is why the intervention of the helicopter was necessary, which carried out at least fifteen launches, as well as bringing personnel and material to the site for the clean-up. .

The causes

The people managed to escape before the fire broke out. According to initial information, they were cooking when the fire broke out. All hypotheses are being examined to clarify the causes that sparked the fire. The timely arrival of the firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to the nearby large house. Several calls reached 115 due to the dense cloud of black smoke that was released upwards, visible kilometers away even from the Lido of Venice.
