Terrible accident, just before 8pm today, in San Marco in Lamis, under the bends of the Convent of San Matteo.
In the independent accident, a young man lost his life and the other occupant of the vehicle was seriously injured. The 118 health workers, Carabinieri and Fire Brigade intervened on site. The stretch of road of the SS 272 from San Marco in Lamis to the San Matteo intersection is closed; traffic was diverted onto the “Panoramica”.
Condolence and closeness to the families was expressed by the regional councilor of San Marco in Lamis, Napoleone Cera: «I am deeply saddened to learn the tragic news of the accident that occurred in San Marco in Lamis, which took the life of a young man from our community . In this moment of immense pain, my most sincere condolences go to the family of the deceased boy. I am also close to the loved ones of the other young man now in hospital. We are not yet aware of his condition. I invite everyone to respect the privacy and pain of the families involved, offering them the support and solidarity they need. We know that no words can soothe such a great loss, but let’s not let these families face their pain alone. As a community, we unite in remembering the young man we lost and in wishing a speedy recovery to his friend. We await further official information on the dynamics of the accident and the condition of the hospitalized boy. In the meantime, let’s reflect on how we can improve road safety on our roads to prevent similar tragedies in the future.”
