The condition of the 11-year-old boy involved in the accident yesterday on the A9 Lainate Como Chiasso motorway, between Lomazzo and Fino Mornasco, is desperate. He is hospitalized in Bergamo hospital and is unfortunately at the end of his life. His mother is also serious and hospitalized at Sant’Anna with a reserved prognosis. The 16-year-old sister and the child’s father were in shock but did not suffer serious trauma.
Busto Arsizio traffic police officers are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident in detail. The child’s family, originally from Moldova but with a Romanian passport and resident in Belgium, was headed to Switzerland. The 11-year-old was sitting behind his father, who was driving. After the Fino Mornasco junction the man, perhaps realizing he had taken the wrong turn, made a U-turn. The car traveling in the same direction, in the overtaking lane, a Honda with a couple from Como on board, would have found the foreign car in front of it and would have been unable to do anything to avoid the impact.
The child was in cardiac arrest when the rescuers arrived, who started resuscitation maneuvers and then transported him by helicopter to the hospital in Bergamo.
