The Belgian Amaury Bonduel won Race 1 of the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo in Spa, Belgium, scene of the second stage of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company’s single-brand championship.
The driver of the BDR Competition by Grupo Prom won the second consecutive race, after the success in Race 2 in Imola. With this result, Bonduel rose to first place in the general ranking.
Seconds Benedetto Strignano And Alberto Di Folco, aboard the number 15 of Rexal Villorba Corse. The two preceded the Iron Lynx duo composed of Giorgio Amati and Jesse Salmenautio, in a race finale full of episodes.
Sparks at the start
Started from pole position, Bonduel kept his head of the race in the early stages, but had to fend off the attacks of Mattia Michelotto (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing), who in turn had to guard against Alberto Di Folco (Imperiale Racing).
The fight for second position intensified during the first laps, with Michelotto managing to catch Bonduel, launching the attack on lap six, however, he went off the track at the Malmedy curve.
The Safety Car shuffles the cards before the stops
The entrance of the Safety Car to remove Davide Roda’s Lamborghini which was stuck in the sand at the Les Fagnes curve reopened the games. At the same time the window for pit stops for driver changes opened, with Michelotto handing over the wheel to Gilles Stadsbader.
Benedetto Strignano got into Lamborghini number 15, returning to command ahead of Stadsbader and Bonduel, third.
A race condensed into one lap
An accident involved Adrian Lewandowski, Luciano Privitelio, Alfredo Hernandez Ortega and Marco Gersagen, again at Les Fagnes, forcing Race Direction to neutralize the race again with the Safety Car. Shortly before, Bonduel overtook Stadsbader for second place.
The marshals managed to clear the track in time to allow the drivers the last green flag lap. Everything happened, with Bonduel able to force Strignano into errors, gaining the lead of the race. Behind him, Söderström was overtaken by Jesse Salmenautio, third at the finish line, then went off the track due to a collision with Egor Orudzhev.
The other classes
Roee Meyuhas And Renaud Kuppens (Boutsen VDS) triumphed in Pro Am, completing the overall podium in twelfth place.
Piergiacomo Randazzo And Stephane Tribaudini (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing) took the victory in the Am class, preceding Huilin Han (Target Racing) e Stephan Guerin (Schumacher CLRT).
Holger Harmsen (GT3 Poland) took victory in the Lamborghini Cup class.
