Porto Cervo Sabina Illbruck, member of the board of directors of the Costa Smeralda Yacht club and sister of the then commodore, Michael Illbruckdied on 12 June 2021 in her home, in the prestigious “Il Sestante” condominium, in Porto Cervo. The doctor was investigated for the death of the German industrialist, Mario Cosso, 58 years old from Sassari, who that afternoon had intervened in his home called by the woman who felt severe pain following a dental procedure for the removal of some teeth which she had undergone when she was in Germany, before arriving in Porto Cervo. Sabina Illbruck she had died shortly after being administered a drug.
The medical-legal advice drawn up by the consultant of the Tempio Prosecutor’s Office ascertained that the 61-year-old industrialist died of cardio-respiratory arrest from anaphylactic shock caused by the intravenous administration of an antibiotic to which she was allergic. Three years after the fact, the matter landed in court.
The Tempio Prosecutor’s Office had asked for the case to be dismissed. But the investigating judge Caterina Interlandi, having examined the documents in the file, it did not accept the public prosecutor’s request and scheduled the hearing in chambers. The proceedings were dealt with today 9 May before the investigating judge Marco Contu. The defender of Mario CossoL’lawyer Maurizio Serraof the Sassari Bar, asked the investigating judge to dismiss it, maintaining that the doctor acted correctly.
Llawyer Antonello Desini, who assists the family of Sabina Illbruck, opposed the dismissal, asking for criminal action to be brought against the doctor and filed a defense brief in which he recalls the same anomalies found in the medical-legal advice of the Prosecutor’s Office: among these, the wrong choice to administer that type of antibiotic and to have done so intravenously. The investigating judge will now decide whether to dismiss or order the public prosecutor to formulate the charge.
