NAPLES – As part of the “Nu bbèlluccafè” event, dedicated to Neapolitan coffee at the Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) in Naples on 7 and 8 May, Caffè Toraldo, founded in 1968 in the Rione Sanità, presented to tourists, curious and enthusiasts his espresso, historical icon of Naples bars. The event established and sponsored by the Municipality of Naples, promoted by the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities, organized by OP Eventi, and presented by Renato Rocco, director of Buona Tavola Magazine, attracted the public and above all the attention of the media and institutions . Among the curators of the event are Mauro Illiano, coffee expert and editor of the Italian Coffee and Roasting Guide, and Francesco Costanzo, barista and micro roaster.

And right at the Toraldo stand to taste the coffee of the historic company were present the Mayor of the Municipality of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, the Vice President of the City Council of Naples, Flavia Sorrentino, soul and godmother of the initiative together with the Councilor for Tourism, Teresa Armato, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, president of the UniVerde Foundation. Angelo Simonetti, President and one of the founders of Toraldo, recently awarded the Venice International Grand Prix with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, also intervenes and speaks at the meeting “Coffee as a cultural element: a ritual to be protected and preserved ” and underlines the importance of these choral events which are good for the territory and put the spotlight on the coffee sector. Of great interest is the copper coffee pot “Cento cups”, of Neapolitan manufacture from the early 1900s by the U. Puglia company, which belonged to the historic Gran Caffè Fontana alla Torretta, exhibited together with other finds linked to the art of coffee and taken from the section food and wine museum ‘Bonelli Collection’ of the Museum of Naples curated by the director Gaetano Bonelli, purchased thanks to the contribution of Mario Simonetti of Caffè Toraldo.
