THE Carabinieri of the Rome Casal Bertone station arrested a 26-year-old from Naples, resident in the Parco Verde district of Caivano (NA), with a criminal record, seriously suspected of crime of theft by snatching.
Last night, the security staff of a nightclub in via di Portonaccio requested the intervention of the Carabinieri because, shortly before, they had blocked the suspect indicated by some patrons as responsible for several thefts committed against the club’s customers, at different times of the evening and favored by the distraction of the victims intent on dancing among the crowd of young people.
Once on site, the Carabinieri took the 26-year-old into charge and searched him, finding him in possession of a gold necklace torn from the neck of a 20-year-old Roman and two gold necklaces torn from the neck of a 24-year-old from Naples, recovered and returned to the victims, and two further gold necklaces, seized, on which investigations are underway to trace the owners.
All the victims of theft filed a regular complaint.
The 26-year-old was arrested and taken to the barracks to await the immediate procedure at the Court of Rome which validated the arrest.
It should be noted that the proceeding is in the preliminary investigation phase, therefore the suspect is to be considered innocent until a possible final sentence.
