The no to the giant gas deposit in Cala Saccaia.
The coastal liquid natural gas deposit project a Cala Saccaia, proposed by Olbia Lng Terminal srl, will not be done. Despite the mayor’s support Seventh Nizzithe Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security rejected the Enerclima 2050 project. This included a methane terminal, a 40 thousand cubic meter LNG tank, and a 180 megawattswith the aim of energy transition towards renewable sources.
The negative opinion came after a process lasted two yearsdisappointing for Antonio Nicotra, promoter of the project. The reasons for the refusal are not yet clear, but could derive from environmental concerns raised by theHigher Institute of Health. Nicotra is waiting to read the provision to decide on any legal action.
