Urgnano. The news arrived in Italy late in the evening of Wednesday 8 May: Kevin Drago did not make it, he died in hospital in Miami due to the serious injuries sustained in the accident which on Easter Monday saw him involved together with friend and fellow villager Giuseppe Ghidotti, who died in hospital shortly after the crash.
He was in intensive care at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he had undergone one surgery after another: on his head, on his spleen.
Immediately after being notified by the American authorities, father Giancarlo, mother Maristella and sister Syria immediately flew to Florida to be at his side: behind them was an increasingly larger circle of relatives and friends who, through fundraising, supported the expenses doctors for hospitalization.
On Wednesday the father’s message reached them all: Kevin, 31, didn’t make it.
He left for the United States together with his friend Giuseppe, found in Barcelona in February 2023 and adventure companion in the autumn for the journey that should have meant a new life.
