At the Antiquarium Turritano we talk about bread, oil and wine in ancient Rome

The menu in ancient Rome including bread, oil and wine, three fundamental food products for the Mediterranean diet of the time but also modern.

The Antiquarium Turritano museum of Porto Torres, on Friday 10 May 2024, from 5pm to 7.30pm, in collaboration with the Corda bakery of Porto Torres, the Bettua olive company of Gonnosfanadiga and the Bentu – Nurra winery, organizes a conference entitled: “Bread , oil, wine and archaeology. Food and wine production from ancient times to today: dialogue with archaeologists and companies”.

On the occasion of the national day of oil and wine, which together with bread form the so-called Mediterranean triad, the many aspects will be illustrated at the Archaeological Museum, with brief historical-archaeological reports and targeted interventions, which characterize and distinguish the current production of the products between ancient and modern.

The objective is to combine scientific dissemination with the productive realities operating in the Sardinian territory, which will have the opportunity to promote their activities and have some of their typical products tasted, still today the basis of the economy and nutrition of the our time.
