A loud bang and explosion, broken glass in the windows of the building, damage to cars parked nearby and a lot of fear. A bomb exploded last night, around 11.30 pm, in via Villa Cappello in Castelvetrano, in the Trapani area. The bomb, of a homemade nature, had been placed in the stairwell of the building where a local criminal lives. The firefighters also found flowers in front of the house, an element that strengthens the hypothesis of an intimidating attack.

The explosion, felt throughout the Palma neighbourhood, fortunately did not cause any injuries. But in some homes the window glass was destroyed. The investigations are conducted by the Carabinieri of the Castelvetrano company led by Captain Pietro Calabrò. The house hit by the attack is inhabited by two families, who have currently been evacuated for safety reasons. The police have started investigations to identify those responsible and the motive for the attack.

The most accepted hypothesis at the moment is that someone wanted to intimidate Leonardo Milazzo, involved in the “Year Zero” anti-mafia operation, conducted by the Carabinieri in 2018, sentenced to 6 years and 10 months and then released from prison last October.
