On the recently passed eightieth anniversary of the drafting of the Camaldoli Code, the Cultural project of the Diocese of RiminiL’Institute of Religious Sciences interdiocesan of Rimini and San Marino “TO. Marvelli”with the social pastoral offices of the two Dioceses, organizes a meeting of memory and reflection on the event, Friday 10 May, at 9pm, in the Manzoni room (via IV Novembre, Rimini).
In July 1943, in Camaldoli, experts from various disciplines, coming from the Catholic world, were summoned to elaborate a fundamental contribution to the principles of the social, political and economic reconstruction of Italy emerging from the dictatorship and the immense disaster of the war.
This experience represented a comparison on the programmatic lines regarding the social doctrine of the Church on the themes of work, social justice, freedom, the relationship between the individual and the State and the premise for the birth of the Constitution of democratic Italy, in the elaboration of which many of the intellectuals of Camaldoli.
The anniversary is not only celebratory, but inspiring, still and especially today, the profound meaning of democracy, human dignity, active citizenship and civil confrontation.
The professor will be the speaker Ernesto Preziosi. Former director of Institutional Promotion of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, he has held various positions in national and international associations.
Author of essays on contemporary history, he was director of the Paul VI Institute for the history of Catholic Action and the Catholic Movement in Italy. He is a contract professor of contemporary history at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” and president of the Center for Historical and Social Studies (Censses).
