On the eve of World Communications Day, set in the Catholic Church on Ascension Sunday, for which Pope Francis’ Message this year wanted to focus on the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence, a meeting promoted by the Rieti committee of ‘Aiart wants to encourage reflection on the educational and anthropological implications linked to what technology presents to society and people, especially the youngest.
“What Humanism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence?” is the title of the meeting which will take place on Friday 10 May at 5pm in the Aula Magna of the ITE “Luigi di Savoia” in Rieti in viale Maraini, 54. The speaker will be a particularly expert teacher in the field of media education: Doctor Lorenzo Lattanzi.
Aiart, an acronym that stands for “Italian association of radio and television listeners”, is a non-profit organization founded in a Catholic context in 1954 to follow the problems of the then new communication tools, recently reclassified as a “media citizens association” (while maintaining the old acronym ) having also widened the spotlight on new media, with a strong educational focus on their conscious and responsible use, with particular attention to minors and families.
Present for some years with a small nucleus also in Rieti, the association operates in synergy with the ecclesial world and with the scholastic reality. Already in November 2018 he had invited Dr. Lattanzi – who is national vice president of Aiart and regional president for the Marche – to hold a meeting in the city on education in the digital age, which was much appreciated.
The organization of Friday’s meeting makes use of the direct collaboration of two local educational institutions (IC Alda Merini and IC AM Ricci), but the teachers of all Rieti institutions are invited to participate, as well as to parents, ecclesial and secular educators, media workers. For teachers, upon request, a certificate of participation is issued (Aiart is an accredited body by the Ministry of Education for the training of teaching staff).
