A significant fire broke out this morning at 9.15am in the Piani industrial area of Bolzano, an area immediately adjacent to the Magazzini generali. The rapid expansion of the flames involved the entire Alpitronic plant, a world leading company in the production of charging columns for electric cars.
Fire in Bolzano: rapid mobilization and safety measures
The alarm was timely, with the column of smoke visible from different parts of the city signaling the urgency of the intervention. In response, a massive deployment of fire brigade teams, both from Bolzano and the surrounding areas, is currently engaged in operations to put out the flames, which are particularly complex due to the nature and quantity of materials involved.
A nearby high school was promptly evacuated as a precaution, ensuring the safety of students and staff. Furthermore, it was necessary to close the airspace above the city to facilitate rescue operations and prevent further risks.
The impact of fire
The fire originated in an area of the plant currently under renovation, which may have facilitated the rapid spread of the flames. Despite the intensity of the fire, no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far. However, the event raises serious questions about the safety of industrial plants and the fire prevention measures adopted in such densely industrialized areas.
