Very serious accident in Clusone, on the State Road 671 of Val Seriana, on the evening of Tuesday 7 May. The collision occurred just before 11pm and involved two cars, one of which had an 8-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy on board. Unfortunately the little girl, from Castione della Presolana, lost her life.
From initial information, the two cars collided head-on not far from the border between Clusone and Rovetta. From an initial reconstruction it seems that the two children, brother and sister, were on board a Seat Ibiza driven by their 60-year-old grandmother. It seems that the car was traveling in the direction of Rovetta and collided with a BMW, headed towards Clusone, in which there were a man and a woman.
The impact was very violent. The little girl would have died instantly. The grandmother was transported to hospital in serious condition. The child was also injured, but it was not serious. The other two people involved in the accident were also injured.
Rescue services were sent to the scene: an air ambulance from Brescia and another from Sondrio, four ambulances from the volunteers of the Blue Cross of Lovere, the Green Cross of Colzate and the Presolana Volunteer Corps, together with two medical vehicles. Also on site were the firefighters from Clusone and the volunteers from Gazzaniga and the Carabinieri from the Clusone Company.
The road was closed to allow rescue operations.
