the former boxer Antonio De Vitis was awarded

BRINDISI – Important recognition for Antonio De Vitis. The former boxer from Brindisi, several times intercontinental champion, received the “Palme d’Or for technical merit” in Rome. The honor has three distinct degrees, and can be awarded to sports technicians who have distinguished themselves for the achievement, by their athletes or teams, of high national or international level results, as well as for the significant contribution provided for the technical updating and for the development of youth activity and to foreign sports coaches who are particularly deserving for having worked in favor of Italian sport.

The award of the Palma for Technical Merit can be granted only once for each distinguished grade and the award takes place in successive grades of merit. A period of at least 4 years must elapse between the awarding of the Bronze Palme and the Silver Palme and a period of at least 7 years must elapse between the awarding of the Silver Palme and the Golden Palme.

In February 2021, De Vitis was elected federal councilor of the national athletes of the Fpi (Italian Boxing Federation). After leaving competitive activity, De Vitis opened a gym.
