A driver of bus line 76 was attacked around 4.30 pm by a passenger who attacked him hit in the face with a headbutt at the end of a heated argument.
The incident happened in via De Amicis in Collegno, in the Turin area, a few steps from the Fermi metro stop. The person responsible for the crime then managed to escape before the arrival of the police. The injured man was taken to hospital in Rivoli by ambulance for checks, but his condition is not serious. The race was inevitably suspended.

Investigations are underway to understand what triggered the violent outburst of the man on board the GTT bus. Obviously, whatever the motivation, the gesture has no justification. According to an initial reconstruction, it seems that the passenger got in the way to prevent the driver from closing the doors: it seems an acquaintance of his was arriving in a hurry: the man expected the bus to wait for him and he didn’t want the race to start again.

The driver would have several times invited the other to move and to decide whether to go up or down, because the race had to continue. Since he instead remained stationary between the doors, blocking them, the driver would have got up from the driver’s seat to explain to him more convincingly that he had to move; the passenger, in response, hit him. Then he ran away with his friend, who had arrived in the meantime, to avoid the consequences.

On the same route a few months ago another driver was attacked by a passenger because he was getting on hit by the closing doors and he had blamed the driver. On the episode that occurred today, GTT recalls the Company’s commitment to preventing possible attacks. The download of images from the video surveillance system could provide useful elements for the police to trace those responsible.
