More Iceland from Venice: Play Airlines, an Icelandic low-cost airline, resumes direct connections from Marco Polo airport in Venice to Keflavík airport in Reykjavík starting from next May 16th, extending the period of operation from the Veneto airport compared to 2023 The flights, carried out on Thursdays and Sundays, will continue throughout the summer season, until October 27th.

“After last year’s launch, PLAY is happy to return to operating its direct connection from Venice to Reykjavík, with something new: this year, in fact, we are anticipating the resumption of flights by more than a month, a sign of the liveliness of the airport Veneto” said Einar Örn Ólafsson, CEO of Play. “Iceland is a very popular destination among Italians, and summer represents the time to fully experience the charm of the Far North. Conversely, thanks to our direct connection, Icelandic tourists will be able to take advantage of the flight to discover Venice, its territory and the whole of Veneto, from the mountains to the sea”.

Founded in 2019, PLAY is characterized by attention to safety, punctuality, simplicity and courtesy and by a quality, streamlined and no-frills service. In March 2024, PLAY transported 142,918 passengers, recording a 65% increase compared to the number of passengers transported in the same month last year. The load factor for March 2024 was 88.1% – the highest ever recorded by the company in a winter schedule month.

For summer 2024, PLAY will operate flights from Iceland to 35 destinations in Europe, the United States and Canada. With PLAY, passengers departing from Europe can purchase continuous flights to the United States or Canada, even with an optional stop-over on the outward or return journey of their journey, to stop for a few days in Iceland and thus combine discovery of two transatlantic destinations.

The flight from Venice to Reykjavík will be operational from 16 May.
