From11 to the May 26th will be held on the ground floor of Palace of Fears the photographic exhibition “PATAGONIA YESTERDAY AND TODAY. Seventy years of mountaineering and exploration at the End of the World

Patagonia yesterday and today”: at Palazzo delle Paure in Lecco an exhibition to tell the infinite love story between mountaineers from Lecco and the southern mountains.

Starting from Saturday 11 May, on the ground floor of the Palazzo delle Paure it will be possible to visit the exhibition “Patagonia yesterday and today”, set up by the Ragni della Grignetta as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of the west face of the Cerro Torre by the “Città di Lecco” mountaineering expedition.

The exhibition, which consists of twenty panels composed of short explanatory texts and large and evocative photographic images, provides an overview of some of the most significant expeditions in which the Red Sweaters took part, from the one Carlo Mauri reaching the top of Monte Sarmiento in 1956, to the route opened in alpine style on the east face of Cerro Torre by Matteo Della Bordella, David Bacci and Matteo De Zaiacomo, in 2022, obviously passing through the epic of the conquest of the west face of Torre.

The celebrations for 50th anniversary of the first ascent of the west face of Cerro Torre are organized by the consortium of local bodies and institutions led by the Comunità Montana Lario Orientale Valle San Martino, as the lead body and made up of the Municipalities of Abbadia Lariana, Ballabio, Lecco and Mandello del Lario, in collaboration with Confcommercio Lecco, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture Como – Lecco, Province of Lecco, CAI Lecco “Riccardo Cassin” section, Ragni della Grignetta Group, Lecchese Gamma Mountaineering Group, UOEI Lecco section and Riccardo Cassin Foundation. The exhibition also benefits from the precious support and collaboration of SIMUL – Lecco Urban Museum System.

The inauguration is established for Friday 10 May at 5pm at Palazzo delle Paurefollowed by a visit to the exhibition.

The exhibition, with free admission, will be on display until Sunday 26 May with the following timetables:
– Monday closed
– Tuesday from 10am to 2pm
– from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
