ORTONA – The long weekend dedicated to the celebration in honor of Saint Thomas the Apostle begins with the historical procession of the silver keys, which will start from the Tosti Theater at 5pm on Saturday afternoon.
For the role of Lady of the keys was chosen Federica Marzolo, 24 years old, volunteer of the Italian Red Cross, demonstrating the commitment and dedication with which the world of volunteering works daily for the good of the community.
A holiday which, due to the well-known political events that led to the administration of the municipality, has a much reduced budget compared to previous years, having been only 21 thousand euros invested but which keeps all its civil and religious appointments intact.

On Saturday at the end of the procession, at 7pm, the silver bust will be exhibited in the cathedral for the veneration of the faithful for three days and the archbishop will proclaim the indulgence of Forgiveness. The indulgence is granted to the faithful who go to pray at the Tomb of the Apostle and who are in God’s grace. At 7.30 pm in Piazza della Repubblica, entertainment by historical groups.
Also in the square, at 9pm, great band concert Banda “G. Gigli” city of Recanati with the city band of Ortona. On Sunday at 9.30, along the streets of the city, procession of the Gift of Saint Thomas the Apostle, in the Carmine district, the 46th national gathering of Forgiveness will be held organized by Apam, Fiva Confcommercio, Asso service.
From 7 in the morning, in the cathedral, there will be celebrations of the Holy Mass animated by the city parishes. At 11.30, after the reception of the gift, the Eucharistic concelebration will be held presided over by Archbishop Cipollone.
In the afternoon, at 6pm, there will be a mass hosted by the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle and at 7pm the city procession of the bust of Saint Thomas the Apostle will start from the cathedral.

On Saturdays, from 3pm to 1am and on Sundays (from 9am to 1pm and from 5pm to 1am) the Municipality will make available a shuttle bus serviceThat will carry out the transport from the roundabout of the shopping center in the Santa Liberata district to the terminus at the roundabout in via Maiella and back. Monday 6 May will be the day traditionally dedicated to the commemoration of the deceased with the mass at 7pm dedicated to the deceased devotees of St. Thomas presided over by the archbishop of Pescara-Penne, Tommaso Valentinetti from Ortona. At 9pm, in Piazza della Repubblica, the Scena mutates in concert, at the end fireworks from the Aragonese Castle.
