To the “Griffin meeting“, which will be held on Thursday 23 May at the Campo Scuola in via Gerbi, the gold medalist at the Tokyo Paralympics, champion and record holder of the 100 meters for the T63 category will also be present Ambra Sabatini.

An opportunity not only for the spectators, but also for the athlete herself to prepare as best as possible for the Paralympics on the track of the Stade de France, in which she will certainly want to confirm the world title won last year with the world record of 13″98 .

Ambra Sabatini, born in 2002, in 2019 she was the victim of a bad car accident which forced her to amputate her left leg above the knee. Despite this, the former middle distance runner, who returned to competition in 2020, immediately revealed herself to be an extraordinary protagonist of Paralympic speed. She has established a career three times the world record of the 100 meters T63, improving it by 6 tenths: 14″59 in Dubai and 14″11 in Tokyo in 2021 and 13″99 in Paris last year.

His life will be told in a documentary film: “Amber, when running changes everything”, which will be premiered at the next edition of the Giffoni Film Festival. «I liked and like the sporting environment – said Sabatini at the presentation of the initiative. – Stubbornness helped me, it was difficult but then the satisfactions came. I never thought of abandoning everything because it was impossible as a thought, the idea never crossed my mind even after the accident. It would have been inconceivable not to try. I went through phases including that of re-learning to run, then I obtained some results and acquired different levels of awareness, learning to manage the things that go well but also those that go wrong”

Ambra’s membership enriches the roster of athletes present in Asti, after the aforementioned blue weightlifters Leonardo Fabbri And Zane Weir and the Kenyan nineteenth-century artist Ferguson Rotich.
