Fire at the “Shanghai” in the Tamburi district
A violent fire broke out in the early hours of the afternoon of May 1st in the “Shanghai” commercial establishment in the Tamburi district of Taranto. It is a large commercial structure located in the former Pibigas area, in the Tamburi district, between via Galeso and via Ss. Angeli Custodi.
The Fire Brigade promptly arrived on site and at the time of writing they are still working to put out the fire which apparently spread to the area of the structure reserved for the sale of clothing items. State Police officers were also on site.
A tall column of black smoke was visible even from kilometers away.
Yesterday evening the situation returned to normal. The news was given by the management of the company in the Tamburi district: «We inform our kind customers that fortunately we have solved the problem, the staff and customers are all unharmed, and there were no injuries. We thank the customers who immediately called the fire brigade, to whom we are very grateful for their hard work; We also thank those who kindly contacted us to ask how we were doing! You were all very kind and very helpful. Fortunately we have solved the problem due to a malfunction of the solar panel which caused damage to SHANGHAI MODA. The shop is open as usual, except for the clothing department which will be closed for a day to tidy up the interior.”
