“Kindergarten and primary school teachers from the center to the port”: meeting in Fano

FANO – The meeting will be held on Saturday 4 May at 5pm at the Sala della Cultura in Fano, within the Impronte Femminili exhibition “Kindergarten and primary school teachers from the center to the port. Emerging women in the first half of the 20th century in Fano” organized in collaboration with the Giulio Grimaldi University of Knowledge.

In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the women of Port and Piatlet, when they wanted to supplement the meager family budget, worked as laundresses, servants, fishwives, netters, spinning mills or, the luckiest, as embroiderers and seamstresses. All hard work, poorly paid and often harmful to one’s health. But at the turn of the two centuries a female minority begins to emerge: they finally acquire a certain level of education and can access more rewarding and better paid jobs. They are the first kindergarten teachers and, more rarely, elementary school teachers. Angela Frattolillo, Luciana Agostinelli, Lorenza Mancini they offer us a well-rounded portrait of Angiola Bianchini, Giulia Maccaroni, Bice Diambrini Palacesdirectors of the nursery schools of the City and the Port and of the teacher Giannina Angelini . Women who have demonstrated intelligence, preparation, passion and devotion for their role as managers and teachers, fighting against economic problems of all kinds, poor collaboration from institutions and bureaucratic starvation.
The meeting aims to illuminate an interesting little-known cross-section of Fano history and offer these first teachers the right recognition for the achievements made for the benefit of their own generation and future ones.
Worth noting is the very welcome intervention of the Cgold of Vowe white InCanto which was born by chance in 2001 but which over time has consolidated itself with a variety of repertoire that ranges from a cappella singing, to polyphonic pieces accompanied by the organ or to more modern pieces accompanied by instruments and percussion, establishing with the public, in a simple but engaging way , an immediate and warm human relationship trying to convey moments of joy and emotions through singing. Since its inception the choir has been directed by teacher Marica Baron.
