«Our sea is clean, proud of the flag» – Pescara

FRANCAVILLA. For the fourth consecutive year Francavilla obtains the Blue Flag, a recognition that the Fee attributes to coastal municipalities, not only for the quality of the bathing water, but also on the basis of further analyzes carried out on data such as the accommodation offer or the level of separate waste collection .
Tuesday morning the mayor Luisa Russo received the recognition in Rome for which the municipal administration had already been working for months. Since before Christmas exactly, when the deputy mayor and councilor for the environment Williams Marinelli twice he reached the capital to deposit the dossier prepared by the municipal offices indispensable for making the request.
After a long wait, as usual, the Blue Flag summons arrived on Monday morning, confirmed the following day in the presence of the mayor. It must be said that, as happened last year, in 2024 there will be two sections certified by the Fee: the first is the one in the northern area of the city coast, between the Punta de L’Este hotel and the “La Murena” factory. In fact, this segment was the one that already in 2021 allowed Francavilla to return to being a protagonist among the coastal resorts, after years of embargo due to spills and permanent bathing bans that had compromised the quality of the city’s water.
Since last year, a second stretch has also been added, in the Piazza Sirena area, located between the Mare Nostrum beach and Bagni Da Gianni, which, thanks to the work carried out in recent months, has also managed to obtain reconfirmation.
«A banner that testifies to the excellent quality of the water and services suitable for a tourist town», Mayor Russo writes on social media, also with reference to the spring that the Blue Flag can represent for the entire tourism sector during the summer period. «There is always room for improvement and we will do it, but the Blue Flag fills us with pride», concludes the mayor.
According to reports from the Abruzzo Region, in the last two years Francavilla has exceeded 130 thousand summer visitors and, according to experts, part of the credit must be attributed to the return of the Blue Flag, which encourages families and sea lovers to choose the reported locations among those with the best water. A water which, according to Arta’s analyses, seems to be in good health again this year: the first survey, carried out in mid-April, crystallized a good situation practically along the entire coast, except for a couple of points where ‘it was necessary to proceed with the counter-analysis, before turning the green light back on. Without a doubt the administration’s objective is to proceed in this direction, not only to continue to enjoy the goodness of the bathing waters, but also in an attempt to be able to extend the Blue Flag request to other stretches of the city coast, perhaps already starting next year.
