In Ponte Buggianese a meeting on Father Filippo Cecchi

BUGGIANESE BRIDGE – The municipal administration of Ponte Buggianese, in synergy with the culture commission of the municipality, has organized a day dedicated to “Father Filippo Cecchi” on Saturday 4 May at 4.30 pm, at the Dogana del Capannone (via Capannone 252) in Ponte Buggianese – From birth to discoveries” by Giampiero Giampieri.

Father Filippo Cecchi, born in Ponte Buggianese, was a physicist, religious and inventor of many scientific instruments. His passion was research which extended from electromagnetism, to telegraphy and meteorology. He personally conceived and created various types of seismograph, he designed a large thermometer and a barometer which today is exhibited in the Galileo Museum.

Speaking about Father Filippo Cecchi will be Professor Giampiero Giampieri, the Councilor for Culture Maria Grazia Baldi, and the president of the Culture Commission Elio Grazzini.

This conference is part of the project of the Caffè Letterario and also of the Open Week, it will take place in the arched room of the Dogana del Capannone where a photographic exhibition on the Fucecchio Marshes and beyond has been set up by the F8 Association.

At the end of each event, thanks to the contribution of the pastry shops, bakeries in the Ponte Buggianese area and roasters, a coffee with pastries will be offered to brighten up the evening.
