In an interview with The PlaylistJosh Brolin provided an update on Sicario 3, third chapter of the saga starring Benicio del Toro which has been in development for some time. The actor, who plays CIA agent Matt Graver, said:
We are closer. When I said: “We will never do it!”, my words went around the world. So Molly Smith, who is a really good friend and one of the producers with Black Label, was very responsive, which I appreciated. I appreciate the reaction. They are very focused so that [Sicario 3] sees the light, but we won’t do it until there’s a story interesting enough that we want to spend all that money to bring it to the screen.
However, Brolin does not know who is currently working on the project:
Chris [McQuarrie, regista degli ultimi film di Mission: Impossible] he was involved for a while, but now he’s not involved anymore. And I don’t know if [Taylor] Sheridan [sceneggiatore dei primi due film] it is. I know him very well, but I don’t know if he is on board or not.
Hitmandirected by Denis Villeneuve, was released in theaters in 2015, while the second film, Soldier, with Stefano Sollima directing, three years later. The third chapter of the saga should also see the return of Emily Blunt, absent in the second.
