Devastating explosion, post office blown up

As Prima la Martesana colleagues report, the thieves’ objective was to get to the cash contained in the ATM by making their way with a “controlled” explosion. But the situation degenerated, given the power of the explosion which completely destroyed the building. The debris also ended up tens of meters away, with the windows knocked out, the internal roof collapsed and the chairs where the waiting users sit projected outside the premises.

The criminals’ objective was to steal the money

At the moment it has not yet been established whether the criminals managed to remove any cash. What is certain is that, given the conditions of the structure, the central post office in Brugherio could remain unusable and closed for some time.

The intervention and investigations of the Carabinieri

The Carabinieri of the Monza Company and the city station are investigating what happened, remaining in Piazza Papa Giovanni for a long time to carry out the investigations. The military in the Scientific Investigations Unit also intervened, as well as the Fire Brigade. While waiting to shed full light on what happened and for the restoration work to begin, the post office this morning was kept under control by a private security agency
