Historic trains to discover Friuli Venezia Giulia

After the success of the proposal, which was sold out last season, the historic trains that lead to the discovery of the wonders of Friuli Venezia Giulia are back. From UNESCO sites to the “Most beautiful villages in Italy”, from seaside villages to historical re-enactments, from guided itineraries to festivals and major sporting events, this is an initiative that involves collaboration between the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the FS Foundation with the operational technical support of PromoTurismoFVG.

The objectives are to promote the territory and encourage rail transport in favor of a T modelmore sustainable tourism, thanks to a wide and quality offer, a special rate that includes free land programs, such as guided tours and nature activities, and the possibility of bringing your bicycle with you.

May trains

On May 5th you will be able to board the Belle Epoque train which will take passengers departing from Sacile to Cormons, and then to Gorizia. Here everyone will have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the historic center of the Isonzo capital, and also to have a tasting in an unmissable cellar.

On May 12th, however, it will be the turn of Unesco Cities Train which will travel from Trieste to Palmanova and Cividale del Friuli, leaving guests the opportunity to discover atmospheres, routes, history and monuments of the starry city and the first Lombard duchy in Italy. Included free of charge for passengers will be guided tours of Palmanova and Cividale del Friuli.

Many wonders can also be discovered on May 19th, when the Orchid Train headed to Osoppo, on the occasion of the Orchid Festival. It will instead be directed to Sacile on Garden Train, which on May 26th will leave from Trieste to discover the natural and oenological riches of this area of ​​the region on the occasion of the “Cantine Aperte” event.

The historic trains of June

Costs and useful information

This unmissable initiative is offered at a promotional price and a fixed rate, regardless of the length of the route travelled. The price of a one-way or return ticket on electric or diesel locomotive trains is for adults 5 €, children from 4 to 12 years of age pay 2.50 euros, while those under the age of 4 travel for free.

For trains with a steam locomotive the return price for adults is 15 euros and 7.50 euros for children from 4 to 12 years of age, children from 0 to 4 years of age are free.
