Monday was the day of great pain, yesterday the prayer and today the flight to Pakistan where little Fatima will rest. “I belong to God and to him I return” was written on the announcement of the prayer for the last farewell to this Pakistani girl from Gallo who, at just 8 years old, fate took away from everyone’s love, and alongside, a photo that it portrayed her smiling and joyful as everyone wants to remember her before those fateful days. Due to a pathology from which she already suffered, in the night between Friday and Saturday she had suffered a cardiac arrest, her father and the doctors had tried to save her life, on the street, for more than half an hour but she had arrived at the Maggiore hospital in Bologna in dramatic conditions and, although he fought, in the night between Sunday and Monday his heart stopped. Yesterday at 2pm, in a Cultural Center in Bologna, a prayer was said for the little girl, which was the last farewell to this tender creature of only 8 years old and today Fatima’s body will leave to be buried in Pakistan. The news of her disappearance shocked everyone, both the community of Gallo and Poggio Renatico and that of Malassociazione, where her uncle and her other relatives live and where little Fatima attended school. “I called the family and offered them my condolences for what happened – these are the words of the mayor Daniele Garuti – unfortunately bad luck hit that family a month ago with the accident of their other son”. In fact, his little brother was hit by a car together with his cousin in mid-March and fortunately they both returned home, despite having to deal with fractures. “I expressed our closeness to the family – he continued – as an administration we are there if help needs to be considered”. And he returns to the tragedy. “We are faced with the death of a little girl and this affects us and everyone very much – he adds – I have joined in the family’s pain and I am more affected by this tragedy also for my commitment in the social sphere, especially aimed at minors”. Many have addressed a thought to little Fatima and her parents, also entrusting their thoughts to social media: “Poor little girl”, “You can’t believe it”.
