Interviewed at the microphones of -.it the former Biancoceleste midfielder Ogenyi Onazi expressed his thoughts on the seasonal moment of Igor Tudor’s Lazio. These are his words.
With Tudor, Lazio won 5 of their 6 championship matches. Does this sudden change in results and performance surprise you?
“Tudor is a great coach and then it is quite physiological, when the technical leadership changes, that the team can regain confidence and motivation. Now Lazio is in form and is experiencing a good moment of energy. It seems to me that their attitude has changed and that they now approach matches differently. These 5 games won will also be very useful for next season.”
Do you think the Champions League is still a possible goal, or not?
“Unfortunately, Lazio is late for the Champions League, even if everything is still possible. The Biancocelesti can do nothing but continue to win their matches, and hope that their opponents can lose or draw. To reach the finish line, Roma and Atalanta must leave a few points along the way, but it is mandatory for Lazio to score 12 points in 4 days.”
Tudor is trying to recover Kamada. What do you think of Japanese? Should he stay?
“Kamada has been doing well since Tudor arrived. I think the coach is aiming for a lot and I hope that the Japanese midfielder can decide to stay. At the moment he is playing, he is confident and growing greatly. It is obvious that he will have to reach an agreement with the club, but it is possible that he decides to stay.”
Castellanos replaced Immobile. Can Ciro still be recovered or is his cycle over?
“I have so much respect for Ciro Immobile because he is a great player, someone who has done very well. He has scored many goals and is an idol of the Biancoceleste people. We must continue to believe in him and wait for him to return. He must feel the trust of everyone because I am sure that he can still give a lot to this team.”
You have been playing in Avezzano for over a year, I ask you how this experience is going and how have you adapted to a category so far from Serie A?
“It’s going well and I thank the club for giving me the opportunity to return to Italy. I got back into shape and I hope I can still have some chances for next year. I would like to return to Serie A, but it would also be fine to play in Serie B. Getting used to the new category, Serie D, was not easy because the difference is so huge. The organization and the way of playing are different, but thank God I continue to work.”
