many promises and few facts

RAVENNA. Lots of promises but few facts. Legacoop Romagna chooses Ravenna as the venue for the event next Friday 3 May, one year after the flood, the “climate catastrophe that devastated Emilia-Romagna”. Where we will try to answer a series of questions: “What is the state of the affected territories, how many compensations have been paid, what stage the compensation procedures are at, how companies and citizens have managed to restart”. With a day whose title is already a declaration of intent: “Let’s hurry because it’s late”. The event, explains the headquarters, represents “the ideal continuation of the public demonstration organized last September” also in Ravenna, with the cooperators gathered in one of the points where the embankments were cut to try to save the inhabited areas, sacrificing the fields cultivated owned by cooperatives. And the location is also “not accidental”, the Copura logistics plant, on the outskirts of the city, one of those “most compromised” by the invasion of the waters.

Overall, recalls the president of Legacoop Romagna, Paolo Lucchi, there are 21 associated cooperatives that have suffered damages for a total of almost 42 million euros. “We would like to continue to say we are optimistic about the many promises made by the government – he remarks – but the figures and facts to date tell us something else”.

It will be Lucchi himself who will open the proceedings at 9am and the documentary “Pain and the strength of cooperation”, a finalist for the national Film Impresa award, will be screened afterwards.

The coordinator of the Legacoop area of Ravenna, Mirco Bagnari, will then take the floor to illustrate the current status of the refreshments intended for the victims of the flood. He follows up with the vice president of the Emilia-Romagna Region Irene Priolo and the reconstruction path, based on safety and a new strategic vision of the territories. There will be no shortage of video and live testimonies from some of the cooperatives that suffered damage, including Cab Terra, Camst, Conad, Coop Alleanza 3.0, Copura, Deco, Icel and Zerocento. Then there is space for the relaunch initiatives implemented by companies, also in light of Legacoop’s internal solidarity action, worth over six million euros.

Speaking for the institutions will be the prefect of Ravenna Castrese De Rosa, the president of the Province of Ravenna, Michele De Pascale, the president of the Province of Forlì-Cesena, Enzo Lattuca, and the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini. While the conclusions are entrusted to the national president of Legacoop Simone Gamberini.
