Region. In Liguria in 2023, employment is growing, the number of unemployed, inactive and NEETs, young people who do not study or work, are decreasing.

According to Istat data, compared to 2022, the employed have in fact grown by 2.7% (+16,902 units), while the unemployed have fallen by 10.8%, as have the inactive people aged between 15 and 64, who recorded a -3.1%.

“Numbers that speak not only of a healthy and growing Ligurian economy and system, but also of a general climate of trust on the part of citizens, as can be seen in particular from the data on inactive people – explains the president of the Liguria Region – that is people who, despite not having yet found a job, take action to look for it. Particularly relevant is the fact that Liguria records better numbers than the national average and also that of the North West, one of the economic locomotives of the country”.

In fact, employment, at a national level, grew by 2.1% and in the North West by +1.6%. The data regarding female employment is also good: + 5.4%, in particular in the self-employed sector (+ 19.2%).

As regards NEETs (young people aged between 15 and 29 who do not study, work or are not engaged in training courses), the decline is 23.3% compared to 2022.

“Permanently employed people are also growing – adds the president – ​​with +2.4% compared to the previous year, an important figure for families. As regards the most active and dynamic sectors, employment is growing in particular in the key sectors of the Ligurian economy: services recorded a +3.5% of employed people, with a +2.2% in trade, hotels and catering. Last but not least – he concludes – is the excellent manufacturing data, an area in which employment in 2023 grew by 6.7% compared to 2022”.

“The Istat data confirm the positive trend in Liguria which we intend to improve: certainly the renewed Labor Pact in Tourism and the future Labor Pact in support of Crafts and Commerce, which we are defining with the employers’ associations and trade unions, will be valid tools to ensure that hiring is further incentivized and contracts last longer”, states the regional councilor for Labor and Employment Policies.
