In a violent attack in front of everyone on the street, a man attacked his ex-partner’s new boyfriend with a hammer, causing serious skull injuries. The person responsible, a 36-year-old Albanian man, was arrested in Prato by the police on charges of attempted murder. The episode occurred in via Galcianese and appears to have been motivated by issues of passion: after seeing his ex and her new partner walking together, the attacker violently lashed out against the man, a 33-year-old North African, who became the woman’s new partner.
Only the timely intervention of a patrol from the Carabinieri mobile radio department, engaged in patrol duty and passing through Via Galcianese, prevented a murder from occurring. The military noticed a man injured in the head and being chased by another individual armed with a hammer, and promptly called for help, proceeding to arrest the rapist. Currently, the 36-year-old is hospitalized in intensive care at the Careggi hospital.
