CAORLE – A worker from Bibione was hit seriously by the boiler explosion. He is hospitalized at the major burns center in Verona in serious condition FM, 41 years old, who was injured yesterday afternoon on a construction site in Porto Santa Margherita di Caorle. The man suffered burns in several parts of his body, so much so that the health workers initially welcomed him in code red at the Angelo hub in Mestre. The alarm reached 118 when there were a few minutes left until 4pm yesterday afternoon. The health workers from the Caorle first aid station were immediately activated from the Suem operations center together with their colleagues from Treviso who took off in the flight with Leone, the emergency health service helicopter. Also mobilized with them were the firefighters of Portogruaro, the Spisal staff of the health company 4, which investigates accidents in the workplace, and the carabinieri of the local station directed by Marshal Francesco Lambiase. According to an initial reconstruction it seems that the man, a worker from Bibione employed by a company, was working on a boiler on the construction site of a restaurant under renovation set up at number 1 of via dei Vikinghi in Porto Santa Margherita di Caorle, when suddenly this one exploded.

THE WOUNDS

In the explosion the Bibione resident was hit by boiling water on his face, arms and hands. The screams were heard by other people who were nearby. The medical personnel who arrived on site found the 41-year-old conscious despite the serious burns. He therefore decided to sedate him to try to ease the pain caused by his wounds. Transferred by helicopter, the worker was initially taken to the Mestre hospital. The doctors found second degree burns for which it was decided to immediately transfer him to a specialized hospital. Again with the help of the helicopter, the patient was rushed to the hospital in Verona where he was admitted with a guarded prognosis. The firefighters made the area safe while the Spisal technicians, with the help of the carabinieri, started the usual investigations to clarify the cause of the accident. It will be up to them to understand and ascertain whether all the safety procedures required on the construction site have been used. The boiler itself is being examined to ascertain the reason for the sudden explosion. However, it would be an investment of boiling water and not of flammable products. It could all have been caused by a malfunction or connection error. Spisal investigators are verifying this.
