MODENA – The two Moroccan brothers, aged 26 and 54, accused of the murder of their compatriot Jaouad Dejli, stabbed to death last Friday in Castelnuovo Rangone in via Casette Zanasi, remain in prison. The judge decided this but did not validate the arrest considering that there was no risk of escape. The investigating judge confirmed the prosecutor’s accusation, that is, that it was voluntary homicide. But the two suspects, in the presence of their lawyers Roberto Ghini, Giulia Galvani and Giulia Testi, declared during the prison hearing that they did not want to hit Jaouad to kill him and that they only learned of his death hours later. The 37-year-old Jaouad Dejli died from a stab wound which severed the femoral artery and for the defense the very fact of having hit a leg and not other more sensitive parts would demonstrate that there was no intention to kill. From what has been reconstructed from the investigations and from what also emerged from the interrogation, the victim arrived late Friday morning by car at the home of the two suspects and began honking and swearing, the two got out and a furious argument began; stones flew and even a road sign was torn down, then suddenly the 26-year-old pulled a large kitchen knife from his sleeve, hitting Dejli; the man took a few steps outside the gate and collapsed to the ground. The police stopped the two shortly afterwards. The motive is still to be clarified, it was not the first time that arguments broke out between the three, one of the tracks being drug dealing but the investigations are still ongoing.
