What future for energy? On May 10th a conference in Novara

Novara – “What future for energy?” is the title of the conference organized by Confindustria Novara Vercelli Valsesia (Cnvv) and Consorzio San Giulio (its company for energy services), in collaboration with Consorzio Univer, on 10 May 2024 at 10 am in the Auditorium of the “Perrone Campus” of the University of Eastern Piedmont in Novara (accessible from Via Perrone 18 and from Baluardo Lamarmora 7).

After greetings from Gianni Filippa, president of CNVV, and Marco Dalla Rosa, president of the San Giulio Consortium, the works, coordinated by Filomena Greco (Il Sole 24 Ore), will be introduced by Andrea Lanzini, professor of the Energy Center of the Polytechnic of Turin and delegate of the Rector. Of “What future for energy?” Massimo Santarelli and Roberto Zanino, from the Energy Department of the Polytechnic of Turin, will discuss, while “The new frontier of fourth generation Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)” will be illustrated by Elisabeth Rizzotti, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director Italy, of newcleo.

This will be followed by a round table dedicated to the development policies of large energy suppliers, in which Nicola Rossi, Head of Innovation of Enel Group, Francesco Giunti, president of Enipower Spa and head of Energy, Evolution, Integrated Initiatives & Regulatory Activities of Eni Spa, will participate. Lorenzo Mottura, Executive Vice President – ​​Strategy, Corporate Development & Innovation of Edison Spa, Giuseppe Bergesio, CEO of Iren Energia and director of the Energy Business Unit of the Iren Group, and Simone Demarchi, CEO of Axpo Italia Spa. The conclusions will be entrusted to Matteo Marnati, Councilor for Environment, Energy, Innovation and Research of the Piedmont Region.

The need to accelerate decarbonisation and the impact of geopolitical tensions on energy security have started a necessary reflection on what the future of energy could be. On May 10, at the end of the annual meeting of the San Giulio Consortium, we will discuss, in compliance with the European taxonomy and the principle of technological neutrality, the increase in renewable energy, the increase in national production of methane gas, the affirmation of biogas and biofuels, the development of the hydrogen carrier and the possible future development of clean and safe nuclear energy”.
