In second place was Basilicò’s fried pizza, in third place went to chef Onofrio with the sandwich filled with roasted squid. Special awards to the Italian ice cream champion, Gabriele Fiumara and to Giovanni Gangemi of Pizza Planet. The 2023 visitor record was broken: 31,500 attended this long weekend of food and entertainment in the Ionian municipality.
There Portella Pythoneria wins the third edition of ‘Santa Teresa di Riva Street Food’ 2024spring event, the second organized by ‘Eventamente’ by Alberto Palella, in collaboration with the Municipality of Santa Teresa di Riva.
The typical Messina street food, in the double traditional version and with speck and potatoes, was the most appreciated by visitors among the 24 proposals presented by the operators who participated in the event. He took second place Basil with his fried pizza, on the third lo chef Onofrio with the sandwich stuffed with roasted squid.
Special prizes were awarded to the best ice cream maker in Italy, Gabriele Fiumara of Califoria Café, who presented his extraordinary artisanal ice cream, a professional from Santa Teresa who recently won the final of the Italian Sigep ‘Gelato d’Oro’ championship and to Giovanni Gangemi of Pizza Planet and the wallet pizza prepared during the Street days.
This year’s edition of Santa Teresa di Riva Street Food surpassed last year’s attendance record: in five days, compared to the four of the last edition, there were 31,500 visitors (in 2023, 27,000).
The mayor of Santa Teresa di Riva is satisfied, Danilo Lo Giudice: “Congratulations to Eventamente for the perfect organization of the event together with our municipal administration. They are complex events in many respects, also in terms of safety and management of urban spaces, but with the right attention everything went well and we are very satisfied with the success of the edition that has just concluded. We’ll meet up next year, because the beautiful events must continue.”

The quality of our proposal lies in the public’s response and the increase in attendance is significant. Events like this can only be carried out when there is strong collaboration with the administrations and, in Santa Teresa di Riva, we found confirmation of this. Our events will continue until the summer in the province of Messina”.
Also on the stage of the final evening, the Councilor for Culture and Entertainment of Santa Teresa di Riva, Ernesto Sigillo and the vice president of the city council Mariella Di Bella.
