Sartiglia: mourning in Oristano, Tomaso Pinna has died

Tomaso Pinna

Mourning in the world of Sartiglia for the death of Tomaso Pinna, member of the Gremio dei Contadini for many years.

Tomaso Pinna was 89 years old and three times held the role of oberaiu majori, supported by his wife Giuseppa Solinas as priorissa: in 1989 (with Antonio Matta as oberaju of Cascia), in 1997 (with Giovanni Obinu alongside him) and in 2003 ( together with the oberaju of Cascia Corrado Sanna who Pinna himself had introduced into the corporation).

A great lover of the Oristano equestrian event, Pinna passed on his passion for the Sartiglia to the whole family. His son Diego is a skilled horseman and his daughter Stefania is an appreciated massaiedda and awarded in 2021 with the Camelia, the annual recognition awarded to a woman to celebrate all women who actively and passionately experience the thrill of Sartiglia.

In the last edition of the Sartiglia another generation of the family made its debut in the most salient phases of the event: the niece Nicole was one of the massaieddas who passed the pieces during the dressing of su Componidori Giovanni Utzeri.

Tomaso Pinna’s funeral will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 30 April, at 4.30 pm, in the Capuchin church in Oristano.
