Syracuse, death of Renzo Formosa: confirmation of sentence requested in appeal

The hearing today

The prosecutor in charge of the investigation has asked for confirmation of the 4-year sentence established at first instance, while the accused’s lawyers ask for acquittal

Seven years after the tragic accident that led to the death of Renzo Formosa, the appeal process against Santo Salerno opened today in Catania. During today’s hearing, the prosecutor in charge of the investigation, Tony Nicastro, asked for confirmation of the first degree sentence against the accused (sentenced to four years), while on the other hand the latter’s lawyers they ask for full acquittal, excluding guilt profiles for their client.

The terrible road accident in which the then 15-year-old Renzo lost his life occurred in via Bartolomeo Cannizzo, when the young man on board his scooter and intent on returning home was hit by Salerno’s car, suffering serious injuries which – after a day of agony in hospital – resulting in his death.

Next hearing on June 17, when the appeal sentence is also expected.
