Ovens upstairs – After the debut with Gioele Dix’s homage to Giorgio Gaber, the theatrical season of Ovens upstairs which from Friday 3 May to Friday 7 June will host three other eagerly awaited shows. The first – Friday at 8.45pm Ciasa dai Fornés – will have as its protagonists Fabiano Fantini, Claudio Moretti, Elvio Scruzzi And Martina Delpiccolo. Cumbinin – intrics and poems is the title of a show which, since its debut at the beginning of 2023, has seen a long series of “sold outs” in the theaters of the ERT Circuit. The season will continue on Friday 17 May with Debora Villa and her comic monologue Tilt, global exhaustion and will end on 7 June with Allegro bestiale, the tested format of the ‘crazy’ musicians of the Banda Osiris and Professor Telmo Pievani which combines lightness and scientificity.
Returning to Cumbinìn, the text is set inside a beauty farm where two men in bathrobes wait for a third to discuss and complete a shady deal. They are ambiguous men, of dubious morality who, through a tragicomic language, show themselves in their vileness and meanness. Meanwhile, the third calls and sends messages in a paroxysmal crescendo that will accompany the entire show. Will arrive? Without him the deal couldn’t be concluded. The two are joined by the manager of the place who, strangely, appears unknown to them, having taken over due to a sudden change of management. Everything seems bizarre and paradoxical about her: the way she presents herself, the treatments offered, the unusual payment method.
A difference and an abysmal distance seem to divide them, but the contrast that arises from her dreamy personality in contact with the realism of the two opens up unexpected scenarios on the way of perceiving the world.
Supported by irony, anchored to reality but also leavened by literary suggestions, a story of ordinary malfeasance becomes an opportunity to ask ourselves what Poetry is, how it arises and what it can still be used for.
